Use your card reader

If your business is integrated with a merchant processor, you can use card readers to scan and save your clients’ credit or debit card details when they make a purchase in the store.

Key tips before we begin:

  • Card readers are only supported for US customers. For more information, contact [email protected].

  • Ensure your card reader is compatible with your merchant processor as well as the device it’s connected to. For more information, see Purchasing hardware from WellnessLiving.

  • US customers using Paysafe as their merchant processor can't use a card reader unless Address Verification Service (AVS) is disabled. AVS helps prevent fraud and can only be disabled once your business is PCI compliant. For more details, see PCI compliance.

Use your card reader with a USB port

To use your card reader with a USB port, complete the following:

  1. Select Card Reader as your payment method.

  2. Click Proceed to Payment, then use the card reader to swipe the credit card. An alert will appear on the screen indicating that the card has been accepted and you will hear two beeps.

  3. Click Complete. The sale is complete.

Use your card reader with the headphone jack

To use your card reader with the headphone jack, complete the following:

  1. Make sure your card reader with the headphone jack is fully charged before your first use. You’ll know it’s fully charged when the LED light indicator turns green.

  2. Start making a sale using the Elevate Staff App.

  3. Select Card Swiper as your payment method.

    • If you want to pay with multiple payment methods, tap Split payment and select another payment method.

  4. Select Tap to swipe credit card.

    • If you enter information for a new payment method, such as a credit card, and want to save it to the client’s profile, set the Save payment to client profile option to ON.

    • Under Comment, enter any important notes or information about the selected payment method. Comments entered for the payment method can be viewed on the client’s Transactions page.

  5. Swipe the card used for payment in the card reader.

  6. Tap Complete payment ($ amount). The sale is complete.

    • If you want to pay with multiple payment methods, tap Split payment and select another payment method.

  7. Tap Email receipt or No receipt depending on whether you want to email a receipt to the client for their purchase.

Use your card reader with Bluetooth

To use your card reader with Bluetooth, complete the following:

  1. Start making a sale using the Elevate Staff App, then select Card Reader as your payment method. For first time users, you must process a test transaction to confirm that the card reader is working properly.

  2. On the Card Swiper screen, select Tap to swipe credit card.

    • If you enter information for a new payment method, such as a credit card, and want to save it to the client’s profile, set the Save payment to client profile option to ON.

    • Under Comment, enter any important notes or information about the selected payment method. Comments entered for the payment method can be viewed on the client’s Transactions page.

  3. Swipe the card used for payment in the card reader.

    • It’s important to note that this device doesn’t support chip and PIN transactions, which means cardholders won’t be able to insert their cards into the device.

  4. Tap Complete payment ($ amount). The sale is complete.

    • If you want to pay with multiple payment methods, tap Split payment and select another payment method.

  5. Tap Email receipt or No receipt depending on whether you want to email a receipt to the client for their purchase. For more information, see Emailing receipts.

Use your card reader with a lightning port

To use your card reader with a lightning port, complete the following:

  1. Make sure your card reader with a lightning port and the Apple device with which you will use the reader are fully charged before your first use.

  2. After configuring your credit card mobile reader, start making a sale using the Elevate Staff App.

  3. Swipe the card used for payment in the card reader.

  4. Tap Complete. The sale is complete.
