Understanding time zones

You can select a time zone for each of your business locations. The selected time zone determines how times appear on your schedule and in your notifications by default.

Client time zones

When clients from a different time zone than your location aren’t signed in and have their browser location enabled, the system will automatically display the client’s local time zone in the schedule within the Custom Schedule Widget, standard schedule widget, and Client Web App.

You may also allow your clients to determine how the times on your schedule appear to them by enabling the business policy Allow clients to adjust time zone. If this setting is enabled, Time zone will be a required field within every client profile. By default, this field will be automatically filled out in each client’s profile based on their home location.

Additionally, if this setting is enabled, the time-based variables in your client notifications will include a time zone abbreviation based on the client’s selected time zone. For example, CST – Central Standard Time.

Staff time zones

When you enable the business policy Allow clients to adjust time zone, staff members can set their individual time zones from their client profile as well. This determines how they’ll see time zones on their schedule and notifications.

If a staff member’s selected time zone is different from a client’s, the staff member’s notification will show times in their own time zone and not the client’s. Additionally, if a client books a service with a staff member who hasn’t selected a time zone in their client profile, the service notification for the staff member will follow the client’s time zone by default.

Getting started with time zones

Before your clients and staff members can start seeing services or notification in their own time zones, follow these steps:

  1. Add your time zone – Use the Staff Back Office of WellnessLiving to set your location’s time zone. For more information, see step 6 under Adding or modifying a location.

  2. Enable the time zone business policy – Set the Allow clients to modify their time zone setting to ON.

  3. Never miss a service – Once everything is set up, clients and staff members can see their services and notifications in their own time zones.

Key tips

  • Standard time vs daylight saving time

    • Selecting any of the standard time zones (such as Eastern Standard Time), won’t automatically adjust for daylight saving time. Use any of the daylight time zones (such as Eastern Daylight Time) to ensure the system automatically adjusts the time for daylight saving time.
