Manage appointment categories

You can group your appointments into categories to keep them organized.

Appointment categories appear as expandable headings on the Appointments page. You can create, modify, deactivate, and reactivate an appointment category. You can also sort the appointments in each category to determine how they are displayed on the Book Now tab of the Client Portal.

Key tips

  • If both an appointment type and its respective category are deactivated, you’ll need to reactivate the category first before turning the type back on.

  • To view deactivated appointment types and appointment categories on the Appointments page, remove the Status and Category status filters.

Create an appointment category

To create an appointment category:

  1. Open the App Drawer then click View All > Setup > Services > Appointments.

  2. Click Add Category.

  3. Enter the name of the new category.

  4. Click Save.

Modify an appointment category

To modify an appointment category:

  1. Open the App Drawer then click View All > Setup > Services > Appointments.

  2. Modify an existing appointment category using the following options:

  • Change a category name: Click the Edit button Image and enter the desired name for the category, then click Save.

  • Move a category in the list: Click the Move up Image or Move down Image button to move the category up or down the list.

  • Move an appointment within a category: Click the Tile View button Tile View icon and then click and drag the appointment within its own category or into another category.

  • Sort all appointments in a category: Click the Sort button Image and organize the appointments by Name, Duration, or Price. Click Custom to manually drag and drop the appointments in a custom order. If you’ve used a custom sort before, clicking Custom will show your last saved order.

  • Delete an empty appointment category: Click the Deletebutton to delete an empty appointment category. If a category contains one or more appointments, it can no longer be deleted and needs to be deactivated instead.

  • Deactivate or reactivate an appointment category: Click the Deactivate Deactivate buttonbutton to deactivate an appointment category. To reactivate an appointment category, click the Activate Activate button button.

Note: You can only deactivate a category if all the appointments in the category are deactivated.
