Understanding drop-ins
Drop-ins are an alternative method of booking a service that allow clients to book a single session without needing to use a Purchase Option.
Unlike other Purchase Options, drop-ins can only be selected when booking a service or reconciling an unpaid visit and can’t be purchased from your store at any other time.
What you can do with drop-ins
Drop-ins provide a convenient solution for your clients to book a service without needing to buy a full Purchase Option. Here are some ways this can benefit your business:
Offer introductory trials for a service. For instance, if a client is interested in trying out one of your classes but isn't ready to commit to a 6-month membership, they have the option to buy a single drop-in session for that class.
Enable clients to purchase multiple drop-in rates at a time. This incentivizes them to visit your business more frequently, encouraging them to eventually buy a full Purchase Option.
Getting started with drop-ins
Before you can start using drop-ins, follow these steps:
Create some services – The first step is to create new services in your business (or modify existing ones) that you would like to enable drop-ins for.
Enable drop-ins for your services – Each service type has its own settings allowing you to enable or disable drop-ins at your convenience. In this section, you will also need to set the price of a drop-in session for the service.
Start using drop-ins – Once drop-ins have been configured for a service, clients and staff members can purchase drop-in sessions from the store.
Key tips
Canceled drop-ins
If a client books a service using the drop-in rate and then cancels, they can book another session of the same type and the drop-in will be used for payment automatically.
A staff member can book a client into new session of the same type of service using the client's unused drop-in session as payment if the drop-in price is equal or less than the price of the canceled session.
Unused drop-in sessions will appear under Drop-Ins on a client’s Passes & Memberships page.
Unused drop-ins owned by clients can be deactivated so they can’t be used to pay for services. For more information, see Deactivating and reactivating a drop-in.
Multiple drop-in sessions
Booking a service using the drop-in rate and then buying multiple drop-in sessions during checkout will only use one of the drop-ins as payment. The other drop-ins will be added to the client’s Passes & Memberships page and can be used to pay for future sessions.
Each drop-in purchased by a client is only applicable to that specific client. For more information, see FAQ: Why can’t I apply drop-in purchases to unpaid visits?
